Tigers’ Verlander roughed up by Blue Jays, 7-2 (AP)

Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Joe Inglett, left, throws to first after forcing out Detroit Tigers' Curtis Granderson in the third inning of a baseball game Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, in Detroit. Placido Polanco was out at first for a double play. The Blue Jays beat the Tigers 7-2.

The Tigers' Justin Verlander is mired in the worst four-game stretch of his career, a career which began with a string of feats no pitcher had accomplished in baseball history. The Toronto Blue Jays chased Verlander early and went on to beat Detroit 7-2 on Monday night. Verlander (8-13) lasted just 4 1-3 innings, giving up six runs and seven hits.
