Detroit Tigers' Marcus Thames, left, smiles at Edgar Renteria after they both scored on a triple by Dane Sardinha in the sixth inning of an interleague baseball game against the Colorado Rockies Sunday, June 29, 2008 in Detroit. The Tigers beat the Rockies, 4-3.

Dane Sardinha felt like a goat after grounding into a rally-killing double play. That made it all the better when his first major league hit made him a hero. Sardinha hit a two-run triple to rally the Tigers to a 4-3 win over the woeful Colorado Rockies on Sunday, giving Detroit a three-game sweep and a winning record for the first time this season.

He hit .363 last season to win the American League batting title.

Detroit’s All-Star start streak likely over

The Tigers head into the final days of fan balloting for the All-Star Game with no player seemingly poised for a late run at a starting spot. Barring a massive run late, the Tigers won't have a starter in the All-Star lineup for the first time since 2005.
